Positivity Rate In Frederick County Lowest In State

It’s less than 2%.                                                                                                              

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) There’s some good news regarding the COVID-19 virus in Frederick County. . The Heath Department reports that the seven-day positivity rate is the lowest in Maryland at 1.5%. . That’s the percentage of people who tested positive for the coronavirus out of all of those tested over a seven-day period.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases continue to go up in Frederick County. The Health Department says as of Thursday afternoon, there are 3,032  cornoavirus  cases in the county, an increase of 12 since Wednesday.

The number of deaths remains at 114 in Frederick County.

The Maryland Department of Health reports the state’s positivity rate is 4.03%   It had been under 5% since June 25th. The daily positivity rate in Maryland  is 3.83%.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases statewide, according to the Health Department, is 93,005, which is an increase of 579 compared to Wednesday.

The agency says there were 3,415 deaths so far in Maryland, an increase of 12 since Wednesday.

In other COVID-19 news, the Frederick County Health Department reports that the new testing center on the Golden Mile will open on Saturday, August 8th. It will be located at the Rockledge Plaza on West Patrick Street just above Masters Pharmacy. It will  be open seven days a week from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM.

Other clinics include:

*Friday, August 7th in Brunswick at Railroad Square from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

*Saturday at 101 West All Saints Street in Frederick, the parking lot of Asbury United Methodist Church from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM

* Mondays and Thursdays, the Frederick Rescue Mission, 419 West South Street, 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM on Mondays, and 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Thursdays.

* Tuesday, August 11th at the Seton Center, 226 Lincoln Avenue, 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.

* August 21st in Thurmont at the Municipal Building parking lot, 615 East Main Street, 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.

*August 25th, Emmitsburg at the Seton Center, 226 Lincoln Avenue, 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.

The Frederick County Health  Department says these testing clinics are open to the public  with no appointment. Citizens do no need a note from their doctors, or display any symptoms of COVID-19. All testing is free. Face coverings and physical distancing are required. These are diagnostic tests; they do not test for antibodies.
