The money will be used purchase PPE and related supplies
New Market, Md (KM) The New Market District Volunteer Fire Company will be receiving some federal money. Members of the Maryland Congressional Delegation announced $2,700 is going to New Market to purchase new personal protective equipment and related supplies so emergency workers can respond during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The funds come from the Federal Emergency Management Agency through the Assistance to Fire Fighters Grant–COVID-19 Supplemental Program.
In a statement, Maryland’s Congressional Delegation says the AFG program strengthens the capability of fire departments, non-affiliated Emergency Medical Services organizations and state fire training academies to protect the health and safety of the public an first responders. For fiscal 2020, the State’s Representatives on Capitol Hill say they have secured $335-million for the AFG program.
