Second Teenager In Deadly Fair Attack Given Probation

He was also told to get into anger management.

Frederick, Md (KM) One of the teenagers involved in the deadly assault  last year at the Great Frederick Fair was put on probation. The State’s Attorney’s Office says that decision was made Wednesday morning during a disposition hearing before Judge Julie Solt. She also ordered the 16-year-old boy to get into anger management. Prosecutors had asked that the teenager be committed and placed in a juvenile treatment  program.

The judge scheduled another disposition hearing in the fall during which the teen could be removed from from the community and placed in juvenile detention if he;s  not compliant with the conditions of his probation.

The 16-year-old had pleaded guilty to 2nd-degree assault in July.

On September 20th, 2019, the 16-year-old and his 15-year-old brother attacked John Weed of Mount Airy who was enjoying a day at the Fair with his family. The two youths pursued Weed, asking him for money, but he refused. They continued to go after Weed. The 15-year-old punched Weed with such force that he fell to the ground. As he was lying unconscious, the 16-year-old spat on him.

Weed was flown to Shock Trauma where he died the next day.

The 15-year-old pleaded guilty to manslaughter on April 29th, and was sentenced to a long term behavioral modification program on May 15th
