COVID Hotline Set Up In Maryland

Citizens are encouraged to report any situations where precautions against the coronavirus are being ignored.                               

 

 

Reisterstown, Md (KM) A COVID prevention hotline has been set up in Maryland.

Residents can call the toll free number or use the e-mail to report concerns about situations where precautions are not being taken to prevent the coronavirus. The information will be forwarded to local health departments, and if necessary,  to law enforcement agencies.

The hotline was set up by the Maryland Emergency Management Agency, the Maryland State Police and the Maryland Health Department.. The phone number is 1-833-979-2266; the e-mail address is [email protected]. Citizens who call or e-mail can remain anonymous.

The three agencies say this is a 24-hour,toll free number where citizens can report any incidents where guidelines intended to help slow the spread of COVID-19  are being ignored.. Depending on the circumstances local health officials will be notified, along with the liquor board and law enforcement agencies. Anyone who violates the Governor’s executive could be charged, and face a penalty of up to one year in jail , a $5,000 fine, or both.

The three agencies say it’s important for Marylanders to do their part in stop the spread of the coronavirus.  Following these guidelines, they say, will result in a safer and healthier state that can return to normal sooner than later.
