Positivity Rate In Frederick County Increases Slightly

Number of COVID-19 cases also increases.                                                                  

 

Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick County’s seven-day positivity rate for coronavirus testing has gone up slightly. The Health Department says as of Thursday afternoon, the rate was 1.6%, which is three-tenths of a percent higher than Tuesday. But it’s still lower than the state positivity rate which is 3.49%.

That’s the percentage of persons who tested positive for the COVID-19 virus out of all of those tested over a seven-day period.

The agency says the number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus as is 3,154, which is an increase of 36 from Wednesday. The number of deaths still stands at 114.

On the state level, the Maryland Department of Health is reporting 98,160 confirmed COVID-19 cases as of Thursday, which is 77 more than Wednesday. The number of deaths is 3,483,  five more than the day before.

In a statement, the Governor’s Office reports Maryland is making progress on it COVID-19 metrics. Along with the positivity rate, the number of hospitalization is  470, a decrease of 18 over the past 24-hours. There are 111 ICU beds in use, which is a decline of six. Overall, the Governor’s Office says, ICU levels have declined more than 29% since July 25th.

In addition, 1.5-million COVID-19 tests have been conducted in Maryland, and that includes 29,842 conducted over the past 24-hours. More than 1-million Marylanders have been tested for the coronavirus, and that represents 18.1% of the state’s population.
