New Rt. 180 Bridge In Frederick To Open Thurs. Night

It’s part of a $19-million project which is expected to be completed in Sept.

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) A new Route 180 bridge carrying eastbound traffic over Routes 340 and 15 is scheduled to open Thursday night. The State Highway Administration says there will be a traffic switch starting at 9:00 PM. .

The span is part of a $19-million project which began last year.

“We’re proud to deliver this project one month ahead of schedule to benefit the thousands of motorists who drive through Frederick every day,” said SHA Administrator Tim Smith. “This new bridge will eliminate a daily bottleneck in the corridor and improve traffic flow in an area that is thriving with new residents and businesses.”

In addition to this new two-lane bridge, SHA says its constractor, Concrete General, Inc,  also constructed a second left turn lane at Route 180 and Solarex Court, along with a dedicated bike lane.

The entire $19-million project is expected to be completed next month.
