COVID-19 Cases In Frederick County Increase, But Not By Much

The number of deaths remains the steady.

Frederick, Md (KM) The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases continue to increase in Frederick County, but not by much. The Health Department says as of Tuesday afternoon, there are 3,376 cases of the coronavirus, which is an increase of five from Monday. The number of deaths remains at 116.

The seven-day positivity rate stands at 2.1%.. That’s the percentage of patients who tested positive for COVID-19 out of all of those individuals tested over that period of time.

In its news release, the Health Department says there are more unidentified cases from the past two weeks, and that means the number of of newly identified cases underestimates the risk in the community. The agency also says a majority of those patients who tested positive for COVID-19 don’t know where they got infected.

Officials say the virus is still widespread in the community, and residents still need to take precautions. That includes washing their hands frequently, staying at least six-feet away from other people outside of their homes, and wearing a mask or other facial covering.
