Frederick County Public Schools Extend Free Meal Service Through December

This is due to approvals from the US Dept. of Agriculture.                                                                               

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County School System says the “to-go” breakfasts and lunches served at area schools will continue through December. Officials say that’s due to recent approvals by the US Department of Agriculture. .

Meals will be provided students 18 and under, and to adults 19 and older who are enrolled in a Public School program for persons with disabilities.

26 schools will continue to provide the meals on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays of each week. They are:

Elementary Schools

Ballenger Creek Elementary
Brunswick Elementary
Butterfly Ridge Elementary
Centerville Elementary
Emmitsburg Elementary
Glade Elementary
Hillcrest Elementary
Lincoln Elementary
Monocacy Elementary
New Market Elementary
North Frederick Elementary
Oakdale Elementary
Orchard Grove Elementary
Spring Ridge Elementary
Sugarloaf Elementary
Twin Ridge Elementary
Waverley Elementary
Whittier Elementary

Middle Schools

Brunswick Middle
Crestwood Middle
Thurmont Middle
Windsor Knolls Middle

High Schools

Frederick High
Gov. Thomas Johnson High
Middletown High
Walkersville High

The schools’ kitchens will be closed on Monday, September 7th for Labor Day. But will reopen the next day, Tuesday, September 8th.

Some additional “to-go” meal sites have been added:

The following schools are added for to-go breakfasts and lunches distributed from the school cafeteria:

  • Deer Crossing Elementary
  • Governor Thomas Johnson Middle
  • Green Valley Elementary
  • Lewistown Elementary
  • Liberty Elementary
  • Myersville Elementary
  • Tuscarora Elementary
  • Valley Elementary

 

The following sites will distribute to-go breakfasts and lunches from a school bus:

  • 7th Street Frederick Shopping Center Parking Lot, 1305 West 7th Street, Frederick
  • Brunswick Heights Shopping Center Parking Lot, 92 Souder Road, Brunswick
  • Concord Mobile Homes Park Community, 4828 Pioneer Circle, Jefferson
  • Lucas Village Community Center Parking Lot, 111 Pennsylvania Avenue, Frederick

 

The School System says children do not need to be present. A parent, guardian or designated person can pick up the food for the children.

Adults and children must pick up the meals in the kitchen serving line. Masks must be worn by all children and adults, and family groups must remain six-feet apart from other family  groups.

The food server will do all of the food handling, and all food will be compartmentalized and wrapped. .
