Governor announces movie theaters, other entertainment venues can reopen beginning on Friday.
Annapolis, Md (KM) Maryland will be moving into Stage Three of its recovery plan. During a news conference on Tuesday in Annapolis, Governor Larry Hogan announced that all businesses can open, and that includes movie theaters and other entertainment venues. They will be able to do so beginning on Friday, September 4th at 5:00 PM.
He says indoor theaters can open at 50% of capacity or up to 100 people, and outdoor venues can reopen at 59% of capacity, or at 250 people. Both must have “appropriate health and safety guidelines” in place.
All retell stores, churches and other houses of worship can open at 75% of capacity. They had been limited to 50% of capacity.
The Governor said this step is being taken following some very favorable COVID-19 statistics. But he reminded Marylanders that the crisis is not over and they still need to remain vigilant, and take all the safety precautions against the coronavirus..
He also the counties can make their own individual decisions regarding whether they want to move into Stage Three of reopening.
