Frederick Man Arrested For Murder Among Those Indicted On Friday

Frederick, Md (KM) Six indictments were returned  on Friday by the Frederick County Grand Jury. One was Jordan Burris Hooks, 27, of Frederick. He’s charged with 1st-degree murder 1st-degree assault, use of a firearm in felony  violent crime and having a handgun on his person.

State’s Attorney Charlie Smith says Hooks was arrested on Friday, September 11th for the fatal shooting of Jaemari Anderson. He says the shooting occurred on Sunday, September 6th. Anderson died at Shock Trauma on Wednesday, September 9th.

Smith says Hooks, Anderson and some other people were gathered at Hooks’ basement. During that time, Hooks and Anderson had a confrontation. Both agreed to meet outside for a physical fight. “The investigation revealed that Hooks pulled out a handgun. for what investigators describe as an execution-style killing,” he said.

The Sheriff’s Office says its investigation determined that neighbors and witnesses said they heard one gunshot, and saw several people flee the scene. A shell casing was found at the scene by investigators.

Smith says it was quick turnaround for this case to be presented to the Grand Jury. “They did a very thorough investigation. We happened to have Grand Jury coming up so we presented to the Frederick County Grand Jury  Otherwise, we would have had to wait another couple of weeks or more giving their availability,” he says.

Also indicted on Friday was Jason Wade Harley, 46, of Frederick, whose charged with 11 counts of promotion and distribution of child pornography, and 15 counts of possession of child pornography.”Where he was uploading both  toddler and images of infants. So quite distributing allegations,” says Smith.

The Sheriff’s Office says  these  incidents have been going on from February to August of this year. Harley is a registered sex offender from a possession of child pornography case from 2014 in Frederick County .

Other indictments returned on Friday include:

*Bruce Gordon Cross, 64, of Frederick, whose charged with two counts of possession of a firearm with a felony conviction; two counts of possession of a rifle or shotgun with a disqualifying crime conviction; illegal possession of ammunition; baiting wild turkey; hunting a game bird or a mammal on Sunday for an incident which occurred on April 19th, 2020.

*Edy Daniel Marroquin-Soma, 21, of Frederick for attempted 1st-degree murder, attempted 2nd-degree murder, 1st-degree assault; and 2nd-degree assault for an incident which occurred on August 26th, 2020.

*Steward E. Pumphrey, 31, of Mount Airy, whose charged with home invasion; two counts of 1st-degree assault; two counts of violating a protective order; 3rd-degree burglary; three counts of 2nd-degree assault; and two counts 2nd-degree escape.

*Silas Jerome Leach, 48, whose has no known hometown. He’s charged with 1st-degree escape; 2nd-degree escape; and escape in the 2nd-degree on condition of release for an incident which occurred on September 4th.

 

Prosecutors  say indictments are not findings of guilt, and all defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
