New ‘To Go’ Meals Site Added In Walkersville

It will begin operating next Tuesday.                                                                                                                 

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) The Frederick County Public School System has added another free meals “to go” site.

Beginning on Tuesday, September 29th, a school system Food and Nutrition Services truck will be parked the Discovery Shopping Center at 8225 Woodsboro Pike in Walkersville. The vehicle, which is white minivan, will be  clearly marked for the public to see it, will be providing meals to go for all children 18 and younger. They do not have to be enrolled in Frederick County Public  Schools. Adults 19 and older who are enrolled in an FCPS  program for people with disabilities can also receive meals to go. .

Meals are provided from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays using the following schedule.

Mondays – “To-go” breakfasts and lunches are provided for Monday and Tuesday
Tuesdays – Kitchens are closed
Wednesdays – “To-go” breakfasts and lunches are provided for Wednesday and Thursday
Thursdays – Kitchens are closed
Fridays – “To-go” breakfasts and lunches are provided for Friday, Saturday and Sunday

The School System says children do not need to be present. A parent, guardian or other designated person can pick up the food for the children.  . They will enter the school’s cafeteria  and pick up the food in the kitchen serving line.

Masks must be worn by all children and adults entering the cafeteria, and family groups must remain six-feet apart from other family groups.

The food server will be handling all of the food, which will be compartmentalized or individually wrapped.
