Local Coronavirus Cases Continue Going Up

Biggest concentrations remain in Frederick and Mt. Airy areas.                                                                    

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) The number of coronavirus cases continue to increase in Frederick County. As of Wednesday afternoon, the Health Department says there are 4,088 COVID-19 cases in the county, which is 15 more than on Tuesday. A large majority of these cases are concentrated in the Frederick city and Mount Airy areas.

The number of deaths remains at 125.

The seven-day positivity rate is 2.5%. . That’s the percentage of individuals who tested positive for the coronavirus compared to other individuals who’ve been tested over a seven-day period. .

Across the state, the Maryland Department of Health reports as of Wednesday there are 124,725 coronavirus cases, which is an increase of 414 from Tuesday. The number of deaths is 3,805, three more than the day before.

The Department also says there were 1,493,282 patients who tested negative for COVID-19, an increase of 7,283 from Tuesday. Also as of Wednesday, the testing volume was 2,605,913, which is 17,223 more compared to Tuesday.

Other statistics from the agency include the number of patients hospitalized because the coronavirus as of Wednesday is 334, up by ten from Tuesday. The percentage of those individuals testing positive is 2.68%.
