A Motorcyclist Is Killed In A Single Vehicle Accident In Frederick

 

The cause of the accident is still under investigation


Frederick, Md. – A motorcyclist was killed in a single vehicle accident Tuesday evening at Opossumtown Pike and Hayward Road. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene of the accident around 11:30 PM. Emergency personnel were called to the intersection of Opossumtown Pike and Hayward Road for a reported motor vehicle collision.

The collision involved a single vehicle, which was identified as a 2017 Suzuki GSXR 1000.The Suzuki was operated by James Morrison, age 34, of Frederick, MD. No other person or vehicle was involved in this incident. Collision Reconstructionists from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit responded to conduct the investigation.

The initial investigation has determined that the Suzuki was traveling north bound on Opossumtown Pike in the area of Hayward Road when the motorcycle struck the right curb. The Suzuki overturned and Mr. Morrison was thrown from the motorcycle.

Factors leading to this collision are under investigation. Mr. Morrison was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of kinnotifications have been completed.
