Frederick, Washington Counties See Increases In Coronavirus

Number of deaths continue to remain the same in both jurisdictions.                                   

 

Frederick, Md (KM) COVID-19 cases continue to go up in both Frederick and Washington Counties.

In Frederick County, the local Health Department says there are 4,379 coronavirus cases as of Tuesday afternoon, an increase of 20 from Monday. The number of deaths remains at 127.

The seven-day positivity rate is 2.3 %, which is the percentage of patients who tested positive for COVID-19 among all those who are tested over a seven-day period.

The Health Department is also listing the COVID-19 testing centers in the county. The Frederick Health Village at 1 Frederick Health Way conducts  testing each day from 7:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Testing is also conducted each day along the Golden Mile at 1100 West Patrick Street from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM on weekdays, and 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on weekends. The Frederick Rescue Mission will hold testing at 419 West South Street on Thursday, October 15th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. In Thurmont, testing will take place from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, October 16th at 615 Eat Main Street. The Asbury United Methodist Church at 101 West All Saints Street in Frederick will hold testing on Saturday, October 17th from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Various CVS stores will hold testing. Appointments are required. The Wal Mart store at 7400 Guilford Drive will hold coronavirus testing on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:00 AM until 9:00 AM. Appointments are required.

In Washington County, the Joint Information Center reports 1,986 coronavirus cases as of Tuesday, which is 59 more compared to Friday of last week. The number of deaths remains at 39.

Washington County’s positivity rate is 2.86%.

Statewide, the Maryland Department of Health says as of Tuesday there are 132,343 cases of COVID -19, which is 482 more than the previous day. Since the pandemic began, 3,868 people have died as a result of the coronavirus. So far, 402 people are hospitalized with COVID-19. The percentage of those testing positive for COVID-19 in Maryland is 2.8%. Those testing negative is 1,618,966.
