Johnson Seeking Election to Frederick County Board of Education

Sue Johnson is looking to fill one of three open seats on the Board this year

Frederick, MD (KB) Sue Johnson is running for a position on the Frederick County Board of Education. There are three open seats this year.

If elected, Johnson plans to accelerate the safe return of students to schools, restore public perception of the Board, and improve the diversity of the teaching staff to better reflect the community.

“For the last two decades plus, I’ve been a professor at Frederick Community College,” said Johnson. “In my spare time I coach baseball and I volunteer firefight and EMT for the county,” she continued.

Johnson says that her experience would be a real asset to the Board. Her medical background as an Emergency Medical Technician has enabled her to be fluent in COVID protocols. She also is on the Crisis Management Team at FCC.

Johnson is no stranger to distance learning. She has been using distance learning practices for over 20 years. She believes this would be a good skillset to have while serving on the Board of Education.

As a safety officer for her local baseball league, Johnson had a hand in planning and developing safety initiatives to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. The league has been practicing since July with no reported cases of the virus, according to Johnson.

Election day for the Frederick County Board of Education is on the same day as the general election, November 3rd.
