Sheriff’s Office Names Frederick County Deputies Involed In Fatal Shooting

 

 

One suspect was fatally shot, the other is in custody being held without bond

FREDERICK, Md. (Oct. 21, 2020) – The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) is releasing the names of the three FCSO deputies involved in the officer involved shootings that occurred in the Emmitsburg, Maryland, area on Monday, Oct. 19, at approximately 2:45 p.m.

These deputies are Deputy 1st Class Jason Ahalt employed with the FCSO for more than three years, Deputy 1st Class Jacob Jersild employed with FCSO for nearly three years, and Deputy 1st Class Kevin Lynch employed with the FCSO for more than 12 years. These FCSO deputies remain on routine administrative leave.

The Pennsylvania State Police will not be releasing the name of their trooper involved in these shootings. Contact the Pennsylvania State Police Troop H public information officer at 717-877-2291 for more information.

Regarding the recent searches of the four crime scene areas, FCSO deputies successfully recovered one weapon at the crash scene located in the median between Route 15 South and North by the exit for Route 140. To date, the deputies did not find any other weapons at the scenes of where they apprehended David Leatherman or where Bryan Selmer made contact with the FCSO deputies.
