Frederick County Sees Increasing Coronavirus Cases

Number of deaths remains the same.                                                                                                    

 

Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick County continues to experience increases in the number of COVID-19 cases.

As of Thursday afternoon, the Health Department reports 4,581 cases of the coronavirus since the pandemic began. That’s an increase of 22 since Wednesday. The number of deaths stands at 130.

The county’s seven-day positivity rate is 2.5%,. That’s the percentage of patients who tested positive for COVID-19 out of all of those who were tested over a seven-day period.

In the region, the Health Department is reporting Washington County has 2,158 coronavirus cases, and 42 deaths. Carroll County is reporting 2,168 cases of COVID-19, and 126 deaths. In Montgomery County, there are 24,772 cases of the coronavirus, and 823 deaths. Howard County is reporting 5,684 COVID-19 cases, and 118 deaths.

Across the state, The Maryland Department of Health reports 137,979 coronavirus cases as of Thursday, which is 743 more than on Wednesday. The number deaths statewide is 3,924, an increase of 12 from the previous day.

The agency says as of Thursday, there were 1,705,376 patients who tested negative for COVID-19, which is 10,605 more than on Wednesday. Maryland’s positivity rate is 3.1%. The testing volume for the state is 3,169,302, which is 30,427 more compared to the day before.

As of Thursday, the number of patients who are hospitalized because of COVID-19 is 458.
