Frederick Once Again Named Tree City USA

This honor comes from the Arbor Day Foundation.

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) The Arbor Day Foundation has honored the City of Frederick with its Tree City USA designation for 2020. . This is the 40th consecutive year of this honor.

The Foundation says Frederick has met all of its requirements to be named Tree City USA. . They include the establishment of a tree department or tree board; an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita; a tree care ordinance; and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

“Everyone benefits when elected officials, volunteers and committed citizens in communities like Frederick make smart investments in forests,” says Matt Harris, Chief Executive of the Arbor Day foundation,  in al statement. “Trees bring shade and beauty to our neighborhoods, along with numerous economic, social and environmental benefits.”

The program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in partnership with the US Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.
