Motorcyclist Injured  In Crash Tuesday In Frederick County Has Died

The other two who were injured remain in the hospital.                                                                             

 

Frederick, Md (KM) A motorcyclist injured in a crash on Tuesday afternoon in Frederick County has died. The Sheriff’s Office says Stephen Thomas Wolfrey, 55, of Annapolis passed away on Wednesday at Johns Hopkins. His body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy.

The Sheriff’s Office says Wolfrey was riding his bike along Stottlemyer Road near Wolfsville when it rear-ended another motorcycle. Wolfrey lost control of his bike and crashed in the middle of the street.

The second motorcyclist identified as Wyatt Walkers Lewis,19, of Smithsburg sustained serious injuries and remains at Shock Trauma. Investigators say Lewis was riding his motorcycle along Stottlemyer Road and came upon EMT’s and some bystanders who were administering emergency car to Wolfrey. Lewis’ bike hit a fire truck, and he was ejected. His motorcycle then struck Wolfrey, three EMT’s and the two bystanders.

One of EMT’s injured in the wreck is in stable condition at Shock Trauma. A second EMT was taken by ambulance to Meritus Medical Center. That person has been released and is at home recovery. A third EMT and the two bystanders refused treatment at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office. Anyone who has information which could help is asked to contact Dfc. Anthony Reggio at 301-600-1046.
