Snow Emergency Declared In Frederick City

The County is closing its offices at 12 PM on Wednesday due to the snow.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM)  Due to the heavy snow with accumulations over a foot possible,  a Snow Emergency has been declared in the city of Frederick. It goes into affect on Wednesday, December 16th at 8:00 AM . All city offices and non-essential facilities are closed, and all parks and recreation programs are canceled at the Tally Recreation Center and the Trinity Recreation Center.

Vehicles which are parked on the city’s snow emergency routes must be removed by 10:00 AM on Wednesday, and restricted parking on snow emergency routes will be enforced. The downtown city parking garages are free for parking by the public during the snow emergency.

Property owners in Frederick city are reminded that they are responsible for clearing ice and snow from the sidewalks around their properties within 12-hours after the snow stops falling. That means clearing a path four-feet wide or the entire width of the sidewalk, which ever is less. Failure to comply could result in a $100 fine. Violators would also be billed by the city for any snow removal near their properties.

In Frederick County, government offices will be closed beginning at noon on Wednesday, December 16th. . That includes public libraries and the landfill.
