The occupants are being assisted by the Red Cross.
Finzel, Md (KM) The damage estimate from a house fire early Wednesday morning in Garrett County exceeds $100,000, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Shortly after midnight, fire fighters responded to 2035 Pocahontas Road in Finzel for a one-story, single family modular home with a basement on fire. It took 65 fire fighters nearly 90-minutes to bring the flames under control. There were no injuries.
Fire officials say it took a long period of time to control the fire because of the wind and a heavy fuel load.
Damage is estimated at $75,000 to the structure, and $50,000 to the contents. .
The Fire Marshal’s Office says the blaze started in a rear bedroom, but the cause remains under investigation.
The occupants are staying with family members. The Red Cross is also providing assistance.
