Frederick County’s COVID-19 Cases Continue Increasing

Frederick, MD (KB)   Frederick County continues to see increases in COVID-19 cases. As of Thursday, the Frederick County Health Department has reported 12,446 coronavirus cases since the pandemic began. That’s 137 more than on Wednesday.

The number of deaths is 196, which is two more than the day before.

The local 7-day positivity rate is 10.9%. That’s the percentage of patients who test positive for the coronavirus out of all of those tested over a 7-day period.

In other jurisdictions around the region, the Maryland Department of Health is reporting an increase in cases. Carroll County is reporting 5,587 COVID-19 cases, and 172 deaths. In Montgomery County, there are 49,257 COVID-19 cases, and 1,119 deaths. Howard County is reporting 12,029 coronavirus cases, and 177 deaths.

Across Maryland, the State Health Department is reporting 295,874 COVID-19 cases as of Thursday. That’s 2,970 more compared to Wednesday. The number of deaths is 6,004, an increase of 44 from the day before. Maryland’s positivity rate is 9.31%, and the number of patients hospitalized for COVID-19 is 1,834.
