COVID-19 Cases Continue Upward Trend In Frederick County

Frederick, Md. (KM) Frederick County continues to experience increasing coronavirus cases. The Health Department says as of Tuesday, there were 13, 501 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began. That’s an increase of 564 compared to Monday. The number of deaths is 204, three more than the day before.

The seven-day positivity rate is 8.8%. That’s the percentage of patients who test positive for COVID-19 compared to all those tested over a seven-day period.

In Washington County, the Joint Information Center says there are 10,018 COVID-19 cases, an increase of 431 since the last update on January 8th. . There have 178 deaths, five more since the January eighth reporting date. The positivity rate in Washington County is 15.49%

In other jurisdictions across the region, the State Department of Health reports 52,015 coronavirus cases in Montgomery County, with 1,146 deaths. In Carroll County,  there are 6,.015 COVID-19 cases, with 173 deaths. Howard County reports 12,863 coronavirus cases, and 182 deaths.

Statewide, the Maryland Health Department reports as of Tuesday, there are 312,351 cases of COVID-19, which is a jump of 2,665 since Monday. The number of deaths is 6,196, an increase of 67 from the day before.

The state’s positivity rate is 8.77%. The number of patients hospitalized for COVID-19 in Maryland as of Tuesday is 1,952, and that’s 12 more compared to Monday.
