Fire Damages House in Smithsburg Last Weekend

Smithsburg, Md (KM) No injuries are reported from a house fire Saturday afternoon in Washington County.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says at around 5:40 PM, 44 fire fighters were dispatched to 24 Grove Circle in Smithsburg for a two-story, single family home on fire. It took them 15-minutes to get the flames under control.

Damage is estimated at $50,000 to the structure, and $25,000 to the contents.

Officials say the fire originated in a second floor bedroom, and was discovered by an occupant. The cause remains under investigation.

The family is being assisted by the Red Cross.
