Frederick County Grand Jury Indicts Four

Two are charged in connection with a shooting last month.

 

 

Frederick, Md (KM) Two Frederick men charged in connection with a shooting last month were indicted on Friday by the Grand Jury. Sirreginald Benton, 23, is charged with 1st- and 2nd-degree assault, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, having a handgun on his person, illegal possession of ammunition and being an accessory after the fact. Mekhi Davis, 21 is charged with possession of a firearm with felony convictions, having a handgun on his person, illegal  possession of ammunition and discharging a firearm within city limits..

The shooting occurred on February 9th on Pendleton Court where one man was injured.

Frederick Police say they’re searching for a third suspect in this shooting.

 

The Grand Jury returned two other indictments on Friday. They are:

*Mansour Mbaye, 30, of Frederick, Md, whose charged with 1st-degree assault, 2nd-degree assault and disorderly conduct for an incident which occurred on February 14th.

*Jocelyn Elaine Johnson, 39, of Frederick, Md, whose charged with robbery, two counts of 2nd-degree assault, disturbing the  peace and hindering passage, disorderly conduct, resisting and interfering with an arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The indictments move these cases to the Circuit Court where trial dates will be scheduled. Jury trials in Maryland have been suspended since November 30th, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  But the state Judiciary is expected to resume full operations on Monday, April 26th with health protocols in place to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
