Frederick, Md (KM) A total ban on outdoor burning has been issued by the Frederick County Fire Marshal’s Office due to dry conditions and high winds.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources says the high winds will continue into Friday, with relative humidity dropping into the low 20’s and possibly the teens. Wind gusts could be about 20-miles per hour on Thursday afternoon ahead of a cold front. These conditions increase the risk and spread of wildfires, DNR says. .

The ban will remain in effect until Friday, March 12th at 10:00 AM. The Fire Marshal’s Office says recreational fires such as outdoor cooking are permitted.
