Those born in 1951 and before are eligible to receive it.
Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick County has expanded the age group for citizens who want to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The Health Department says it will now administer the shot to those who were born in 1951 and before.
Those citizens are urged to register for an appointment on line, or by phone at 301-600-7900; Spanish speakers should call 301-600-7905.
Also, the agency says it plans to vaccinate 500 educators this week. This includes teachers from all K through 12 public and non-public schools, college teachers and licensed day care providers. The Health Department says it will hold one clinic this week for educators. The educators will be chosen randomly from the Vaccine Interest Form list.
The County is continuing to vaccinate front line health care workers, and first responders.
To date, the Frederick County Health Department has received 22,650 first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 1800 first doses were received this week.
The Health Department also says as of Tuesday, March 16th, 54,339 citizens have received the first dose of the vaccine which is 20.9% of the population. 29,998 have received the second dose, or 11.6%. The single dose vaccine has been administered to 1,891 residents, or 0.7% of the population. The number of fully vaccinated residents is 31,899, or 12.3% of the population
There have been 17,524 cases of COVID-19 in Frederick County as of Tuesday, which is 40 more than on Monday. The number of deaths is 278, and the seven-day positivity rate is 5.1%.
