Federal Funding Coming To Frederick Municipal Airport, Other Airports

Funds will also go to Hagerstown Regional Airport.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Washington DC (KM) 23.6-million  in federal COVID-19 economic relief is coming to airports across Maryland. That’s according to the State’s Congressional Delegation which says the funding comes from the Coronavirus Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act passed by Congress in December, 2020.

“As we look  to reopen the economy,  this new federal funding will provide our local airports with critical resources to maintain operations and prepare for an increase in commercial travel,” says Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen, and Representatives David Trone, Jamie Raskin, Steny Hoyer, Dutch Ruppersburger, John Sarbanes, Kweisis Mfume and Anthony G. Brown, in a statement. . “Team Maryland is committed to securing additional funding to help strengthen our transportation infrastructure and create new jobs as we work to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and build a more prosperous and equitable future–for all Marylanders.”

The money will be used to enhance cleaning and sanitation efforts, and offset pandemic-related personnel costs operations and debt service. .

Lawmakers say Frederick Municipal Airport will be receiving $57,162. Hagerstown Regional Airport is getting $1, 099,888 Other airports receiving federal money are BWI Thurgood Marshal Airport, Martin State Airport in Baltimore County, Tipton Airport in Anne Arundel County, Garrett County Airport and Salisbury-Ocean City Wicomico Regional Airport in Wicomico County.
