Current Manager Dave Ziedellis will become Executive Director of Visit Frederick.
Frederick, Md (KM) There’s a change at the top for the Frederick Keys. The team says Andrew Klein has been named General Manager. He had been Assistant GM for sales since February, 2018. Klein joined the Keys as Director of Sponsorship in 2017. .
“It’s extremely special,” Klein says in a statement. “This is something that I’ve worked toward throughout my entire career. Having been in Frederick for the last half of the decade, I know that this is a high quality organization, and how much the community supports the Keys.”
Klein has been working in professional baseball since he graduated from Florida State in 2010. He spent two seasons Pasco, Washington with the Tri-City Dust Devils (High A Team of the L.A. Angels), where he worked as Account Executive before being named Group Sales Manager in 2013. Klein was part of the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs (AAA Philadelphia Phillies) in 2013 where he worked for three seasons as an account executive.
“Our goals with the Keys are going to be ensuring that a pillar of the community returns to our fans and our partners,” he says, in a statement. “Our focus coming out of the past year has been and will remain giving our fans and our partners the best quality, top tier, family friendly entertainment we can.”
Klein takes over as General Manager at the end of this month.
The current General Manager Dave Ziedelis has been chosen as the Executive Director of Visit Frederick, replacing John Fieseler whose retiring.
“I’m very pleased that Andrew was selected as my replacement,” Ziedellis says in a statement. “It is a well-deserved promotion. Andrew has earned it and he will do a fantastic job.”
The Frederick Keys will begin their season in Trenton on May 24th. The team’s first home game is scheduled for May 26th.
The Keys joined the MLB Draft League in December after serving for many years as an AA affiliate for the Baltimore Orioles.
