Speed Check Conducted On Rt. 194 By Frederick County Sheriff’s Office & Md. State Police

Frederick, Md (KM) Over a 12-day period, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police conducted speed checks along Route 194. Deputies and troopers and issued 100 citations, 160 warnings and 20 safety emergency repair orders.

” Now more than ever, I am receiving more and more complaints of speeding and aggressive driving in the county,” said Sheriff Chuck Jenkins, in a statement. “Due to feedback I recently received from concerned community members, we are quickly ramping up our efforts on Route 194 and in this collaborative effort with our MSP partners, we were able to make a positive and instant impart on a highly traveled road.”

“Frederick County residents and those traveling in the county should be aware of these collaborative  efforts in the hopes of slowing travelers down and keeping everyone safe,” the Sheriff continues.

The speed checks were conducted between April 26th and May 7ths, the Sheriff’s Office says.

Capt,  Jeff Eyler, the Sheriff’s Office Operations commander, says deputies  focused on the rush hour period on Route 194 during the 12-day period, while the State Police concentrated on the other times of the day.

“The Maryland State Police will continue enforcement efforts working in consultation with our allied public safety agencies,” said Lt. Stephen Johnson, commander of the Frederick State Police Barrack, in a statement. . “We will remain vigilant and address  the issues impacting public safety on Route 194 and within Frederick County.”
