Baltimore, Md (KM) One of Maryland’s former governors and first ladies have become the newest GoVAX Ambassadors. Bob Ehrlich and his wife, Kendel, have recorded a public service announcement encouraging all Marylanders who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 to get their shots.

“Kendel and I recently chose to get vaccinated against COVID-19,” says Bob Ehrlich in the public service announcement. “Did we have to? No. Did we want to? Yes.”

“We wanted to protect our family, our friends and ourselves,” Kendel Ehrlich said in the same public service announcement.

The Maryland Department of Health says the public service announcement has begun airing on television and will have its radio debut very soon.

The Ehrlichs are the latest GoVAX Ambassadors to come forward and urge residents to roll up their sleeves. They join Governor Larry Hogan First Lady, Yumi; Lt. Gov. Boyd Rurtherrford; former US Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams; and Brigadier General Janeen Birckhead with the Maryland National Guard who also heads up the Maryland Vaccine Equity Task Force.

The State Health Department  says the GoVAX campaign features testimonials  and events with first responders, religious leaders, sports figures, research scientists, health officers and elected officials .who share their stories about getting vaccinated, and urge others to do the same.

“We are honored to have Bob and Kendel Ehrlich serve as our newest GoVAX Ambassadors,” says Maryland Health Secretary Dennis Schrader, in a statement. “With the help of prominent Marylanders spreading  the message, we can continue our mission of vaccinating all eligible Marylanders and finish the job against COVID-19.”

The Maryland  Health Department says more than 6.3-million vaccinations have been administered in the state, and 71.1% of adults  have been vaccinated.
