Frederick, MD (KB) Frederick City Mayor Michael O’Connor announced a series of opening announcements for the downtown area.

“All city buildings will be open to the public, beginning July 6th, 2021,” said O’Connor. “City buildings no longer require a screening in process and all those who are vaccinated may enter without a mask.” Unvaccinated individuals will still be asked to wear a mask.

O’Connor said 51% of the Frederick community is fully vaccinated, which means the city can move forward with the recovery plan.

“In Parks & Recreation, permitting for outdoor park facilities, pavilion rentals, and field permits have resumed regular operations,” he stated. “Additionally, parade, walk, and race permits are now available for events of any size. Only posted, pre-approved city routes will be considered.”

He said the Diggs and Thomas memorial pools will open this summer with specific registration and capacity limits. To learn more about pool passes and other important information, O’Connor said to visit: www.cityoffrederickmd.gov/webtrack.

“As previously announced, the city will host pop-up dining along Market Street on the fourth Saturdays of June, July, and August,” explained O’Connor. “On June 26th, July 24th, and August 28th, Market Street will be closed to vehicles from 11am to 11pm to allow in the street dining between Patrick Street and Third Street.”

The Mayor said curb-side pick-up zones and extended pick-up free garage parking will be discontinued on July 6th, as more residents begin to shift to in-person dining and shopping.

The city will also continue to promote and encourage flexible work arrangements as pilot programs proved successful during the pandemic.
