Frederick Man Arrested For Car Theft

Frederick, Md (KM) A Frederick man arrested on Thursday for motor vehicle theft is also facing other charges. Herbert Jesse Lloyd Sedillo, 39, was taken into custody without incident at his home.

Police say just before 11:00 AM, officers were called to the an area of Hillcrest Drive for a reporting carjacking, but it turned out to be a car theft. The suspect entered a vehicle which was parked with the engine running, but got out when the owner showed up. He also got into a van at that same parking lot with the engine running, and managed to get away before officers arrived.

After he was taken into custody, authorities served court papers on Sedillo for a theft that occurred at the Home Depot on West Patrick Street a few days earlier. Detectives say  Sedillo had evidence on himself which indicated his involvement in the vehicle theft and the attempted vehicle theft earlier that day.

He has been charged with these offenses:

5 counts Motor Vehicle theft

5 counts of theft between $1500-$25K

3 counts if theft less than $1500

June 14th 1041 W Patrick St

June 15th 1275 W Patrick

June 17th Unit Blk Hillcrest Drive

June 17th Unit Blk of Hillcrest Drive

No one was injured in these incidents.
