US News & World Report: Frederick County One Of The Healthiest In The Country

It scored 10 points higher than the average Maryland county for 2021.

Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick County is among the “healthiest communities” in the United States. That’s according to US News and World Report which ranks Frederick County as among the top ten-percent of counties nationwide, which is based on access to food, housing and health care.

The metrics, according to a news release from the county, focused on the economy, equity, health, the environment and community vitality. US News and World Report says Frederick County scored ten points higher than other Maryland counties in this year’s listings with a score of 70 out of 100. The US average score was 48. The county says it’s top performance measures include the economy, public safety and education.

“It’s an honor to be named one of the nation’s healthiest communities,” says County Executive Jan Gardner, in a statement. “This acknowledgement is a testament to our committed efforts in Frederick County to ensure that all of our residents have access to top-notch health cadre and a high quality of life.”

The Healthiest Communities rankings are a collaboration of the Aetna Foundation and US News and World Report.
