Baltimore, Md (KM) A 15-year prison sentence was handed down in US District Court on Thursday to an Eldersburg man for production and receipt of child pornography. Shon Brian Beck, 56, will be placed on 25-years supervised release after he gets out of prison.

The US Attorney’s Office for Maryland says in his guilty plea, Beck admitted, when he traveled with his family to Bethany Beach, Delaware, in September, 2001,  to sneaking into a six-year-old girl’s room, and using a digital camera to produce 11 sexually explicit images of the victim.

Also in his plea agreement, Beck admitted in 2018 that another victim said he sexually abused her.

Law enforcement officers served a search and seizure warrant on Beck’s residence on March 22nd, 2019, and confiscated his computer equipment and digital cameras. After the equipment  was  forensically examined, authorities  found 450 images and video depicting sexual abuse of minors, including some prepubescent minors. That also included images of the six-year-old girl from 2001. Many of these images he downloaded from the internet, federal officials say.

The US Attorney’s Office says this case was brought forth as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative which began in May, 2006 by the US Department of Justice to combat child  sexual exploitation  and abuse. It brings together US Attorney’s Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood, along with federal, state and local resources to locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who  sexually exploit children, and identify and rescue victims.
