The project will require the bridge be closed three weekends; July 23rd through July 26th; July 30th through August 2nd; and August 6th through August 9th The closures will begin on Fridays starting at 10:00 PM, and end on Monday at 5:00 AM .
Traffic will be detoured during weekend closures using Route 109 (Old Hundred Road) to Route 355 (Urbana Pike), Route 80 (Fingerboard Road) and Route 85 (Buckeystown Pike).. Motorists are encourage to allow for extra time when traveling in that area.
There will also be a single lane closures and a flagging operation from Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
MDOT SHA says the project is expected to be completed in August.
This is the fist major structural project on this 90-year-old bridge. MDOT SHA says it’s needed to enhance safety and extend the life of the bridge, and reduce future maintenance.
