Fire Destroys Abandoned House In Frederick County

New Windsor, Md (KM) 75 fire fighters battled a house fire in New Windsor Wednesday afternoon.

Frederick County Fire and Rescue Services says just before 1:30 PM,  personnel from the New Windsor Fire Company were dispatched to  3211 Sams Creek Road for a house on fire. They found a two-story, abandoned home with fire throughout.

A tanker task force was requested, and units from New Midway, Walkersville and Libertytown responded, along with fire fighters from Carroll and Howard Counties. It took crews 45-minutes to bring the flames under control. Fire fighters remained on the scene to put out hot spots and do overhaul.

There were no injuries.

The Frederick County Fire Marshal’s Office says the cause of the fire was incendiary, the improper use of fireworks by a juvenile. Damage is estimated at $55,000.
