Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick City Hall will be closed on Friday and through the weekend for environmental testing.

Officials say crews who were making repairs from last weekend’s flooding found a material under the sub-floor of the second-floor foyer which could possibly be asbestos. As part of the City’s asbestos control policy and to keep city employees safe, the building will be closed until environmental testing can be completed.

City Hall is expected to reopen next week.

In the meantime, residents who have business with the City of Frederick are asked to use the drop boxes near City Hall, or go on line.

The City says the Historic Preservation Commission meeting scheduled for Thursday evening has been moved to the City’s Municipal Annex on West Patrick Street. It will be broadcast on YouTube and not Channel 99. The meeting can also be viewed at cityoffrederickmd.gov/videos.
