Man Arrested In Frederick On Gun Charges

 

 

The suspect is a felon


Frederick, Md. (DG) – Frederick Police arrested a 26-year-old man on Friday for being a felon in possesion of a firearm.

At 2:30 PM officers saw a man in the 1000 block of Key Parkway wearing a fanny pack that appeared to have a gun in it.

Detectives made contact with the suspect, De Rome Lewis, and were able to determine he did have a loaded handgun in the fanny pack. Due to a 2015 felony conviction, Lewis is not permitted to possess a firearm or ammunition.

Lewis was previously arrested on June 24, 2021, after he fled from a traffic stop in Frederick. During that incident he was arrested after he police found him in possession of a loaded handgun and three types of controlled dangerous substances. Lewis was out on a $10,000 bond for those charges at the time of his arrest on Friday.

Lewis was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm. He is being held without bond.
