Frederick County Animal Control, Pet Adoption Center To Reopen Next Week

Frederick, Md (KM) Frederick County Animal Control and the Pet Adoption Center will reopen Wednesday, August 4th. on a modified basis.

Officials say anyone whose interested in adopting a pet through an in-person process or just wants to visit the Animal Shelter needs to make an appointment to ensure proper staffing and allow shelter animals to once again acclimate themselves to having visitors. . Hour-long reservation times will be offered three to four times a week during August. Interested citizens must make reservations 30-days in advance.

The Animal Control and Pet Adoption Center were closed last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Those people who want to adopt an animal are encouraged to complete their applications prior to coming to the Adoption Center. Those forms can be found on line at visitfcac.as.me. .

Normal operating at the Center will be Mondays through Fridays  form 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM, and Saturdays, 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM.

If you need to reclaim a lost pet, apply for a pet license, pay a citation, or conduct other administrative business, you don’t need an appointment. When you arriving, ring the airphone at the front entrance.

“We are excited to be reopening our facility to visitors,” says Director Linda Shea. “We know how much in-person interaction with our shelter animals means to many potential adopters, but we will continue our virtual adoption process also since it’s been so successful for the past year.”

In between visits, staff will be sanitizing high touch areas, and hand sanitizer is available.

Visitors are required to wear masks.
