Frederick, MD (NS) – Brad Young, a member of the Frederick County Board of Education, said on WFMD that Critical Race Theory (CRT) is not taught in the Frederick County Public Schools.

CRT is the idea that racism is systemic in the nation’s institutions and that they function to maintain the dominance of white people in society.

Young says that the Board of Education runs the school system, so if the board adopts CRT, then the system would have to work it into the curriculum. He says that has not happened.

On WFMD, Young said, “We need to look at history and teach to look at all perspectives but not in a judgmental way to allow for the students to form their own opinion as to what happened in those cases.”

He says it is a social media hot button issue that CRT is being taught in Frederick County Public Schools, but it is not.
