Ballots to be mailed to all registered voters in Frederick.
Frederick, Md (KM) Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Frederick has more options for citizens to vote during this year’s municipal elections where citizens will pick a mayor and members of the Board of Aldermen.
All registered voters will receive a ballot in the mail 21 days before the primary election day of September 14th, and the general election day of November 2nd. . Voters can return their ballots by mail. The ballot must have postmarked by election day, or before. They must be received by the first Friday after election day.
Ballots can be deposited at one of several drop boxes around the city. The drop boxes will be available in early September before the primary, and mid-October for the general election. . They are located at the Trinity School building, the Frederick County Board of Elections Office, the Talley Recreation Center, Hillcrest Commons, the Housing Authority Office and Frederick Community College. In-person voting will take place at the Trinity School building on New Design Road near Harry Grove Stadium. Early voting is scheduled for September 8th through the 11th for the primary, and October 27th through the 30th for the general election.
In order to vote, a citizen must be 18-years of age or older, be a resident of the City of Frederick, a US citizen and not disqualified by Maryland state law. To vote in the Democratic and Republican Primaries, you must be registered with either party. Independent or unaffiliated voters are not eligible to vote in the primaries, but can cast their ballots in the general election.
To register to vote, call 301-600-VOTE (8683) and ask that a ballot be mailed to you. Residents can download an application on line from the Maryland State Board of Elections website.
The deadline to register for the primary election is August 16th, 2021; for the general election it’s October 4th, 2021.
