Frederick, Md (KM) Work is expected to begin this week on Route 80 (Fingerboard Road) in the Urbana area.

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration says starting on Wednesday evening, August 11th, crews will work overnights to repair potholes along Route 80 between Route 355 (Urbana Pike) and Thurston Road.

The construction crews will also be doing work on the Route 80 ramp to northbound I-270. That ramp will be closed while the work is underway. During that time, motorists will be directed to the Jefferson Street Exit, then onto southbound I-270 to the Route 80 Exit. Travelers on Route 80 going to northbound I-270 will be directed   to southbound I-270 to Route 109 (Old  Hundred Road) exit and then the ramp for northbound I-270. .

Crews will work between 8:00 PM until 5:00 AM the next morning Monday through Friday until the project is completed in October.

Motorists traveling that area can expect single lane closures with a flagging operation. The contractor, Charles J. Miller LLC says it will be using electronic signs, cones and barrels to alert motorists about the workzone and lane closures.
