Frederick, Md (KM) The community transmission level when it comes to COVID-19 has gone from “substantial” to “high” in Frederick County. . The Health Department says that determination is based on the number of cases over a seven-day period per 100-thousand population, and the number of positive tests.
Where there are areas of high transmission, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone wear a mask in indoor public settings, regardless of their vaccination status. That helps prevent the spread of the Delta variant of COVID-19, and protects others. No new mask order has been issued by Frederick County Government or the state. .
The Joint Information Center says there have been 20,506 COVID-19 cases in Frederick County since the pandemic began, and 338 deaths. The positivity rate is 5.43% .
But as of Thursday, 59.3% the population, or 154,014, has been fully vaccinated.
