The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Western Carroll County in north central Maryland...
  Southern Frederick County in north central Maryland...

* Until 930 PM EDT.

* At 609 PM EDT, Between 3 and 5 inches of rain fell earlier.
  Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the
  warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
  shortly. Stream gauges at Big Pipe Creek in Bruceville and the
  Monocacy River at Bridgeport are experiencing minor flooding with
  water levels still rising. Flash flooding will continue to be a
  threat this evening.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.
