Annapolis, Md (KM) A major milestone has been reached in efforts to vaccinate Marylanders against the COVID-19 virus. Governor Larry Hogan’s Office has announced that 95% of Maryland’s seniors 65 and older have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
The state’s chief executive also says that 81.5 % of Marylanders 18 and older have received at least one dose of the COVID vaccine, and 80.4% 12 and older have also received at least one dose. in a statement,
“As one of the most vaccinated states in the country, we continue to achieve significant milestones and out pace the national rates across the board, and we are much better prepared to withstand the Delta surge,” says Governor Hogan, in a statement. “Getting first shots in the arm–especially among out most vulnerable populations–continues to be our primary mission. The vaccines are very safe, very effective, and they are widely available through pharmacies, primary care provides and mobile clinics across the state.”
To state, 1,616,568 vaccinations have been reported in Maryland, according to the Governor’s Office.
Seniors who have not received a vaccine can call 1-855-GOVAX (1-855-634-6829). Personnel at the Call Center can provide assistance to seniors in need of an appointment or transportation.
