Three Suspects Arrested In Four-Year-Old Murder Case In Montgomery County

Two are siblings of the victim.

Gaithersburg, Md (KM) Three suspects have been arrested for a homicide in Montgomery County four years ago. Police say two twin sisters, Lemae Markia Matthews, and Leaundra Kim Matthews, both 23, and Daniel Juwan Howard, 25, are each charged with 1st-degree murder and conspiracy to commit 1st-degree murder.

Authorities say the victim identified as Christian Leroy Matthews, 17, of Silver Spring was found unresponsive by officers on March 21st, 2017 in the 1000 block of Mondrian Terrace   He was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The Maryland Medical Examiner ruled the manner of death as a homicide and the cause asphyxia.

The victim is the brother of Lemae and Leaundra Matthews.

Police say Tysean Lipford, 24, was arrested in 2017, and found guilty of 2nd-degree murder in the death of Christian Matthews. He was sentenced to 30-years in prison.

But detectives say they developed evidence which identified Matthews’ twin sisters and Howard as suspects. All three are being held without bond.
