Incumbents, One Newcomer, Remain In The Lead Following Thursday Counting From Frederick City Election

Counting continues on Friday.

Frederick, Md (KM) The counting from Tuesday’s election in Frederick city continued on Thursday.

In the Mayoral race, Incumbent Democrat Michael O-Connor still holds a commanding lead with 4,427 votes, or 67.06 % of the vote.  Republican Steve Hammrick has 1,091 votes, or 16.53% of the vote. Write-in candidates Jennifer Dougherty and Blaine Young have 1,084 votes, or 16.42% of the vote.    .

The Aldermanic race still shows Democratic newcomer Katie Nash out in front with 4,629 which is 17.36% of the vote. She’s  followed by incumbent Democrats Kelly Russell with 4,561 votes, or 17.10% of the vote; Derek Shackelford with 4,411 votes or 16.54% of the vote; Donna Kuzemchak with 4.40 votes or 16.50% of the vote; and Ben MacShane with 4,056 votes,   or 15.21% of the vote.

The Republicans contenders for Aldermen   are Robert Fischer with 2,081 votes, or 7.80% of the vote; and Michelle Shay, with 2,238 votes, or 8.39% of the vote.

City officials say there are 48,390 registered voters in Frederick. and 6,710 ballots cast so far  in the 2021 general election.

The counting will continue on Friday. The election results are scheduled to be certified next week.
