But the two write-in candidates are in second place.
Frederick, Md (KM) More ballots were counted on Friday from Tuesday’s general election in Frederick city, and the results remain mostly the same.
Incumbent Democratic Mayor Michael O-Connor is still on top with 7,160 votes, or 69.83% of the vote. But this time the two write-in candidates, Jennifer Dougherty and Blaine Young, are number two in front of Republican candidate Steven Hammrick. As of Friday’s count, the two write-in candidates have 1,640 votes, or 16% of the vote. Hammrick has so far received 1,453 votes, or 14.17% of the vote.
It’s all Democrats in the Aldermanic race. Newcomer Katie Nash retains her lead with 7,390 votes, or 17.68% of the vote. She’s followed by incumbents Kelly Russell with 7,348, or 17.58% of the vote; Derek Shackelford received 7,061 votes, or 16.90% of the vote; Donna Kuzemchak has 7,029 or 16.82% of the vote; and Ben Mac-Shane received 6,509 votes, or 15.57% of the vote.
Among the Republican candidates for Alderman, Michelle Shay received 3,142 votes, or 7.52% of the vote; and Robert Fischer has 2,915 votes, or 6.97% of the vote.
Officials say there are 48,390 registered voters in the city of Frederick, and 10,414 ballots were cast for the general election.
Final canvassing is expected to take place on Wednesday, November 10th.
