Sports Betting On Its Way To Frederick County

Long Shots has received its Sports Wagering Facility License.

Frederick, Md (KM) Residents in Frederick County and surrounding communities will have the opportunity to  bet on their favorite sporting events. The owner of Long Shots restaurant and off-track betting facilities in Frederick, Alyse Cohen, says it has received a Sport Wagering License from the State of Maryland.

“We’re just so excited that this is something that we can bring to Frederick and  not have in West Virginia, or people having to drive all the way to Baltimore,” she says. “We think this is an opportunity for us  to shine.”

Cohen hopes sports betting can begin at Long Shots within the first three months of 2022. “Hopefully, March Madness, everyone can come in and have a great time.”

Long Shots is a restaurant and off-track betting facility located within the Clarion Inn near the FSK Mall.

Cohen points out that Long Shots is the only, 100% women-owned business in Maryland to apply for a sports betting license. “We think is a really cool opportunity for women to pave the way in what’s historically a male-dominated industry,:” she says. “Lots of women are in to  sports. Lots of women play sports so it’s pretty cool.”

In the future, Cohen hopes to offer a sports betting app so customers can bet on their favorite professional or college teams using their mobile phones. “That will be coming. The mobile applications are not out yet. But we look forward to applying for one,” she says.

“Our goal is to completely refurbish the space,  have tons of TV’s and make it comfortable for everyone,” says Cohen.

Long Shots first opened in 2019.
